Short nights, long days
Having a baby is stressful. The new addition to your family does not care about established rules. The baby does not care that you have not slept in 3 days. The baby sets new rules.
We had another one of these really short nights followed by a very long day situations the other day. Yesterday was very hard for Simone as Logan did not find any rest until early afternoon. Logan has been taking Zantac for Acid Reflux treatment. The pediatrician had recommended to stop using for a few days to see if the initial treatment would have taken care of the problem. Things were Ok for a few days but then had worsened again. We pulled the plug on this experiment and added the medicine back to Logan's diet. It took a while for it to kick in but the night itself seemed to be much better. The next day was horrible again. The baby just did not stop crying and so we finally decided to take him to the doctor again. They could not find anything other than again pointing back to the acid reflux. The pediatrician gave us a sample of a more expensive medicine to try. He also gave us a $50.00 mail in rebate for it in case we want to go for the prescription. We decided to try Zantac for one more day before trying the new stuff. If a drug manufacturer gives you a $50.00 mail in rebate - the drug is expensive and we have to look out for the budget a little bit.
Simone and I also talked about her diet and what she was eating. We did do additional research and decided to remove a lot of things from her diet to reduce the acid reflux outbreaks caused by stuff getting to Logan through her milk. So, with a little more caution on certain food groups and some time to have her milk become cleaner we might be able to help Logan.
