Surprise

I looked at the alarm clock. 4.47 AM - I tried to remember if Logan had woken us up earlier but nothing came to my mind. We must have had slept from around 11.45 PM until now and the baby was letting this happen. We have not had that much sleep since April 9th when he was born.

Logan was cranky last night. We had given him his 10.00 PM feeding and of course he had to spit it all out 20 minutes later. We gave him a new smaller feeding and put him to bed. He had trouble going to sleep for a while and now we were becoming cranky. Then suddenly it was quiet and he slept. He woke us up 20 minutes later just to fall asleep again within 15 minutes and then it suddenly it was 4.47 AM.

As I had to get up in 30 minutes anyway I decided to call it a night. I used the extra time to take our dog Aspen for an extended morning walk. She had been sick for 5 days now with a bacteria infection and we finally had gotten medicine for her that seemed to work.

I came back from the walk and Logan was crying like crazy. He seemed to be still hungry but when offered the bottle he did not drink. We gave it about 15-20 minutes and then tried again and what a difference this amount of time made. He grabbed (well, he tried to - he is still too young to coordinate his movements) the bottle and drank about 5-6 ml and then fell asleep. Can someone please explain to me why this has to be that way?
