When you’re pregnant, the first thing that the doctor is going to tell you would be that a lot of changes are going to occur in your body. A lot of these changes may not be comfortable for you. For example, you are going to through vaginal discharges.
Vaginal discharges can be uncomforting and you can determine if your vaginal discharge is good or bad. During pregnancy, it is only natural to have a thickening or an increase in the amount of vaginal discharges you have. This process is majorly caused by the changes of hormonal secretions within your body. But there are certain instances wherein things can go bad. For example, an infection will not be something that you want to have. A first indication of a bad vaginal discharge would be bad odor.
Other manifestations of a bad vaginal discharge would include burns, itches, and irritation. If these symptoms occur, it would be best for you to see your doctor for some check-up. Special circumstances would include bleeding. Bleeding would be something very serious and it’s a discharge that you would definitely want your doctor to check on. Leaking fluid is another special case. If you are towards the end of your pregnancy and you have a big gush of fluid, then you definitely need a checkup. It could be urine or amniotic fluid but you want to make sure that nothing is wrong.
Checking with your health care provider is really very important during pregnancy; especially in the case of seemingly abnormal vaginal discharges. Most discharges are normal though and you don’t have to panic. But you have to make sure that you don’t have an infection. If it turns out that you really do have an infection, then you have to make sure it gets treated.
