Busy, busy.
Logan is keeping us busy. In November he had his very first ear infection and need antibiotics. We did not really know what was going on. He suddenly stopped eating altogether. Nothing we could do. Simone took him to the pediatrician and they could not see anything. The pediatrician said to eventually give him Motrin for 2 or 3 days to see if that would help. It did not help. Two days later we went back and now the pediatrician was able to see the ear infection. It was still in a very early stage. At least now we did know what was bothering Logan. The pediatrician prescribed antibiotics for about 10 days.
Due to a job change of mine we are currently covered under COBRA. That means we are buying health insurance from my old employer until the new health insurance kicks in. COBRA is expensive. It is very expensive. To cover the three of us it is about $1,034.00 per month. This does not include dental insurance or vision. We decided to gamble with the month of December. We have 30 days to make the payment to keep the coverage. On January 1, 2006 the new health insurance will start. If we can make it healthy through December we are able to save the $1,034.00. Even with one doctor's visit we are probably still better of by paying it ourselves. So, we are hoping Logan is not getting sick. The ear infection is over and he is doing good. If worst comes to worst we just make the payment + late fees. We know this is not a perfect way to do this, but COBRA is really killing your financial situation.
Actually since the ear infection is over he is improving with the amount of food he is having. He added about 1/3 the amount of food to his daily feedings. And this is compared to when he was healthy before the ear infection. We are very happy about that.
