Maybe, Maybe Not…Could Be…Am I Pregnant?!
There is probably nothing more thrilling than wondering if you are pregnant or not. Accident or on purpose, wondering if you’ve gotten pregnant can leave you up all night (and the next night, and the next night…) What are some signs that will help you decide if you should go buy a pregnancy test?
- Fatigue: this is often the first sign of pregnancy and it is a strong one! If you find yourself feeling more tired than usual, like you can’t drag yourself out of bed in the morning, pregnancy could be the cause.
- Nausea: Though morning sickness doesn’t tend to get strong until after the first few weeks of pregnancy, some women do start to feel that queasy stomach. At first you may dismiss it as a stomach bug but if it keeps lasting, buy a test.
- Tender Breasts: This one may throw you off. Many women notice some breast tenderness just before they start their period. If this is the case for you then you may think nothing of it. But if you’re noticing it with other symptoms, or if this is the first time you’ve experienced it, it could indicate a pregnancy!
- Darkening of your Nipples: The pink or brown area around your nipples is called the areola. During pregnancy many women find that it darkens. You may notice this occurring in the early weeks of pregnancy.
- Needing to Pee: If you find yourself running to the bathroom more often than usual it could be a sign of pregnancy.
- Backache or Headaches: Some women experience these early in pregnancy. If you do not normally have backaches or headaches and you notice them along with other pregnancy signs it could be the sign of a little one on the way!
- Cravings: Pickles and Ice Cream anyone? Many women have food cravings near their period or when they are stressed, but strong cravings are also a possible pregnancy sign.
- Light spotting: If you notice light spotting around the middle of your cycle you may be seeing implantation spotting. Some women notice this but many do not.
- A missed period: Though you can miss your period for many reasons, or have it late, pregnancy is a big cause of a missed period! If you’ve missed your period and it’s over a week late you will want to take a test to find out if you’re pregnant!
If you are experiencing several of these symptoms it’s a sure sign that you should go take a test. Even if you have no symptoms or have only missed a period you may have a strong feeling that you are pregnant. Pay attention to this! Some women just know. Pregnancy tests are reliable and pretty inexpensive to purchase. If you’re trying to conceive you can keep some around the house. Or you can make a quick visit to the doctor’s office for a test. Follow your own intuition! The best way to know if you are pregnant or not is just to go get that test!
