Review: Children’s Book-of-the-Month Club
My little baby boy is 18 months old and totally into books. We can’t get new ones fast enough. Of course he is not really reading at this age, but he is totally fascinated by books. He likes to look at the pictures as well as he listens to us if either one of us parents reads rhymes or stories. Books are a great medium and I think it will help in his IQ development. So, always being on the hunt for new books I discovered the Children’s Book-of-the-Month Club.
What is the Children’s Book-of-the-Month Club at all? Children’s Book-of-the-Month Club is an easy, convenient place to choose from a wide variety of children’s books. Available books include classic children’s literature, Lift-The-Flaps, board books, puzzles, games and more. Children’s Book-of-the-Month Club books range from babies, toddlers, early readers and even pre-teens. While I am not too sure about the pre-teen variety of books, I know for sure that the choice for baby and toddler books is excellent. As a member you’ll save up to 30% off publishers’ edition prices on every book.
As with every kind of club offer there are certain gotchas and I was very hesitating to sign up at first. But when I read what the requirements were, I threw away my hesitations. Get 5 children’s books for $2 with a new membership. Choose from current bestsellers, beloved classics, award winning titles and much more. Then simply buy a total of 4 (!) more books within 2 years – that’s all there is. 4 books in 2 years? That is a no-brainer if you ask me.
So far ordering and shipping have been very easy and reliable. The Children’s Book-of-the-Month Club has a huge variety to choose from. The books I ordered have always been in stock and shipping was completed within 24 hours. You will receive your catalog about once every 3 weeks (up to 17 times a year). In each catalog, you’ll find a Main Selection for your child’s age group. There is no obligation to order when the catalog arrives. I exceeded the 4 book order minimum within the first 10.5 weeks after joining.
I don’t know about you, but I prefer to buy books new and rather sell them used later on when I do not need them. With the 30% off from publisher list prices, I can’t go wrong. And with my increasing need to get more books for my little baby boy, this is a great option.
