Pregnancy - week by week: Week 34-35
Week 34:
Your baby has more distinct wake and sleep cycles. They should now be closing their eyes when they are asleep. The majority of babies are now found in the position necessary for birth. In fact, your doctor may check to see what position the baby's head is in currently. Your baby will keep on growing and further preparing to enter the world. By now the bay is a pretty nice size. He or she is usually around five pounds. Even the lungs are nearing completion at this time. In fact, if your baby were born right now he/she would most likely not have too much difficulty adjusting to life outside the womb.
About now, you might want to familiarize yourself with the first signs of labor. Many women feel pretty tired and almost like they have a slight "bug" before they begin to experience the early signs of labor. Labor starts with real contractions. Unlike false labor, these contractions will be regular (you can time a pattern) and they will begin to be more intense.
As the weeks of your pregnancy add up, you may be feeling more tired. You will probably be feeling excitement but also be nervous about your upcoming delivery at the same time. Try to get some time to rest and relax as you prepare for the arrival of the new addition to your family.
Week 35:
Your baby is running out of space it seems. He/she fills up the majority of the uterus. The baby will not have as much wiggle room to play in now, but he can still move around and will surely make his/her presence known which is a great feeling for moms to be. By this time your baby should be around five and a half pounds. Babies usually begin picking up weight rather well now. In fact, a baby can begin to gain as much as ½ pound or even more a week until they are born!
This is another week in which you are probably beginning to think more and more about the weeks to come. Your baby will be born soon and then you will have a newborn at home. Again, you may feel nervous and excited at the same time, which is completely normal. You may be finishing up the nursery, reading more books about labor and delivery and reading about newborns. Do what helps to make you feel more relaxes and prepared for the weeks ahead.
