I went shopping the other day to find a nice toy or so for the second birthday of my little Logan. Logan is an outside kid. He is not a happy camper if he can’t go outside. One of the reasons why we love Colorado so much. We have almost 300 sunny days a year and even in Winter time temperatures in the sun are warm enough for easy outside play. Logan started walking in September and suddenly we were in a rush to get outside toys. Luckily some of our friends supplied us with toys and an old sandbox.

Anyway – I went shopping for a birthday gift and found a flyer at a local store for moon sand. What is moon sand you might ask? Well, I asked the same question. It’s a different sand that makes outside playing more enjoyable for kids AND addresses some concerns we parents always have when it comes to sand, dirt, and all those things. Moon Sand never dries out and can be used again and again for never ending fun! Moon Sand cleans up easily and won't stick or stain. I was almost sold on this. How many times did we have to clean Logan’s pants and shoes or refill the sandbox with a new bag of sand? Numerous times – you’re right. The shop I went to had the starter kit on sale for $69.95. They even had a “super kit” on sale (?) for $129.95. The sales clerk said many people would even use it inside (fully knowing that it would be messy a little bit). I found the price a little high and my enthusiasm cooled down a little bit.

I could not find a present and ran out of time. But I could not get this Moon Sand out of my mind and so I went online. Guess what – there is no need to spend $70.00 + sales tax to get “your” own moon sand. I found a couple of websites selling this stuff for much less. I checked out a few websites and then finally settled to buy directly from the manufacturer. The price was right (just $44.95 online compared to $69.95 at the local store) and the advertised starter kit looked awesome. Just the right birthday gift for my son.
